Passion can change your life and college students around the world...

Passion:LA was great. I got to see some old friends from the OC, made some new friends, took in some great teaching from Francis Chan and Louie Giglio, learned a few new songs from Matt Redman and Chris Tomlin, and experienced downtown Los Angeles like I never had (Staples Center, Nokia Theatre, Metro System, Hostel, etc.)

I love Louie Giglio and Francis Chan’s authenticity, their pursuit of biblical truth, and passion for my generation. They don’t back down from calling us to surrender our lives to Jesus and to take risks for His Kingdom. They speak honestly about the ills of our culture and the dangers we as Christians find ourselves in if we don’t strip ourselves of clinging to the pattern of this world. They care passionately about seeing our generation spend our lives following Jesus and not a religion, and living fully surrendered and not half-hearted like many young people that put on the falsehood of christianity.

I’m excited about Passion’s World Tour to over 15 countries and that they are so focused on helping young people to think Globally as Followers of Jesus. I truly believe the Church in America needs to embody more of this Call to care about the unreached around the world and taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Nations around the World.

I'm going to be in Los Angeles this weekend for Passion:LA! Join the movement...

I’m excited to say that I’ll be in Los Angeles this weekend! Yes, Passion:LA has finally arrived, and it’s been coming to cities around the country to encourage college students to follow Jesus and spread His Fame in their college campuses and beyond. After LA, they plan on doing a World Tour in major cities around the world, so the vision is expanding beyond the USA, and that excites me.

More and more peope are realizing that we are called as followers of Jesus to think Globally, to care about the needs of the world, and to make Disciples of ALL NATIONS.

My first encounter with Passion Conferences was in 2000 for ONE DAY - 20,000+ college students gathered together in a field to worship the Living God, hear solid biblical teaching from John Piper and Louie Giglio, and pray for our generation to follow Jesus and make Him known around the world. Passion is comprised of worship leaders Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Charlie Hall, David Crowder Band. Other speakers have included Beth Moore, Francis Chan.

God has used Passion’s ministry and vision to open my eyes to the HUGENESS of GOD, HIS GLORY, and to understand that WORSHIP IS HOW I LIVE MY LIFE. Since 2000, I have been to One Day 2003, Thirsty Conference, and Passion 2007.

Muslim Clerics and Christians Response

A group of 138 Muslim Clerics originally wrote back in October “A Common Word Between Us and You” to foster conversation between Christian and Muslims about “Loving God and Loving People”. In Response to this document, over 300 Christian Scholars, Pastors, Missions Leaders, and Organizations published their own document through the Yale Center for Faith and Culture to outline some of this Common Ground. These names include:

Bill Hybels, Tony Jones, Brian McLaren, Joseph Cumming, Robert Schuller, John Stott, Rick Warren, and Fuller Theological Seminary, to name a few.

John Piper Response to Christian Document

A few months after this original document, “A Common Word Between Us and You”, John Piper has released a video response to this Christian document on his Blog, DesiringGod.org/Blog, expressing both disappointment and surprise over it:

“I just want to register publicly a disappointment with this document, in fact a profound disappointment with the way that it is worded and surprised that some of the people that signed it, some of my friends who signed it, who i would have thought would be more careful in what they lend their support to because what’s missing from this document is a clear statement about what Christianity really is and how we could come together to talk with muslims from our unique, distinctive, biblical standpoint.” - John Piper, DesiringGod.org
